Fay A. Furry, 96, of New Enterprise, passed away on November 24, 2020 at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center in Roaring Spring. She was born on April 1, 1924 in Bellwood; daughter of the late Clarence Edward and Florabelle (Fogle) Campbell. On December 25, 1948 in Curryville, PA, she was united in marriage to J. Leonard Furry; he preceded her in death on February 22, 1992. Fay was a graduate of Bellwood High School and alongside her husband in partnership with family members operated Furry’s Orchard in New Enterprise. She was also a long-term employee of Orlo Boyd’s General Store, in New Enterprise. Fay was a member of the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren and the Woodbury Senior Citizens. She had a 100% voting record, never missed a vote, including this past November. Fay enjoyed church and church activities and entertaining in her home. She loved playing games with children, and telling them stories. You could always count on Fay serving you apple or cherry pie with coffee and a side of ice cream. She always wore a smile, maintained her sense of humor, and never met anyone she couldn’t befriend. She was preceded in death by her husband J. Leonard Furry and siblings Sarah Margaret “Sis” Campbell Nagle, Joseph Campbell, Kenneth Campbell, Pauline Campbell Laird White, and William Campbell. Surviving are son James E. Furry and wife Ann of Conway, SC; daughter Beverly A. Wakefield and husband Jim of Bedford; grandson Christopher M. Furry and wife Victoria; grandson Derek J. Furry and wife Kimberly; grandson Scott Wakefield and wife Kelly; granddaughter Betsy Wakefield Clark and friend Chuck Miller; and great-grandchildren Ara Marie, Lillian McKee, Nora Ann, Campbell Louise, Genieve Grace, Asher James, & Miles Alan Furry and Lane Jameslee Wakefield. Services will be held privately with interment in New Enterprise Cemetery. If so desired, Memorial Contributions in Fay’s name can be made to the Old Bedford Village Basket Shop, 220 Sawblade Road, Bedford, PA 15522, or the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren.
